I had a Jesus conversation with approximately 150 people and didn’t say a word. A few days ago my good friend Bob Cheney passed away from complications involving heart bypass surgery. His body was going to be laid to rest at Freeland cemetery which is on the backside of Casper mountain. On the day of the funeral service I asked the family if it would be okay to arrange a fly over of many of the local pilots with their aircraft to honor Bob since he was such an avid pilot and aircraft owner. The family was delighted with the idea. I texted many of my pilot buddies but none of them could participate due to various reasons. I went to the airport at the appointed time thinking this flyover would be pretty lame with only one aircraft. Just as I arrived at the airport one of my friends offered to let me use his vintage WWII T-6 Texan aircraft . Timing was perfect , I arrived at Freeland Cemetary just as they had finished placing the coffin in the ground and had said their last words. I circled the crowd several times then made a low pass next to them. When I was beside the crowd I felt the urge to waggle my wings goodbye. Everyone on the ground waved goodbye back. I pulled up and headed North. After putting the plane away I rejoined the group at a local ranchers house who was hosting the gathering. Upon arriving at the gathering I discovered everyone was every moved by the fly over because the Lord had sent an angel to take Bob back to his home in heaven. There wasn’t a dry eye in the group as everyone waved goodbye to their dear friend and loved one , Bob Cheney. The fly over was perfect . It was simple yet so profound. The single majestic T-6 aircraft with its big radial engine blasting out its recognizable sound signature was perfect. God’s plan for the fly over was much better than mine. Once again this demonstrates he is still on the throne. We just need to trust and do our small appointed tasks as directed and let him do the rest.
